Guyana surpasses 1000 COVID-19 cases with 74 new cases

As of August 24, 2020 Guyana recorded 1029 COVID-19 with 74 new cases. The Ministry of Health in its update revealed that 409 persons are in home isolation, 66 are in institutional isolation and 13 persons in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at the Georgetown Public Hospital.

The number of recoveries is now at 510 and the number of COVID-19 related deaths remains at 31.

Region Four continues to record more cases and now have a total of 351 confirmed cases; this is followed by Region Seven with 200 cases, Region Nine with 172 and Region One with 143.

Region 10 now has 72 cases, Region Three with 54, Regions Two and Eight both have recorded 12 COVID-19 cases, Region Six recorded 10 and Region Five cases stands at two.

A total of 7, 234 COVID-19 tests have been done to date.
