Guyana’s confirmed COVID-19 cases jumped to 1, 140 on August 27, 2020, after 47 additional persons were tested positive. The number of recoveries is now 616 and there are 10 persons in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at the Georgetown Public Hospital.
The new cases were recorded in Regions Three, Four, Seven and Eight. Region Four continue to record the highest number of cases which now stands at 388; this is followed by Region Nine with 207, Region Seven with 206 and Region One with 158.
A total of 380 persons are in home isolation and 102 are in institutional isolation.
A 52-year-old man identified as Alfred Humphrey is Guyana’s latest COVID-19 death. The patient died on Wednesday, six days after being admitted in the COVID-19 ICU. The number of COVID-19 related deaths now stands at 32.
To date, 7, 654 COVID-19 tests have been done.
