A taxi driver was on Thursday robbed of his white Toyota 212 motorcar #HC-336 at Agriculture Road, Mon Repos, East Coast Demerara (ECD) by two masked men who posed as passengers.

Police said Mohan Lall, 68-years-old, was parked infront of the Digicel store at Mon Repos when the men approached him and asked to go to the National Agriculture Research and Extension Institute (NAREI).

One of the men sat in the front passenger seat of the car while one sat behind the driver.

Initial investigations revealed that upon arrival at the location, one of the men told the driver that he had already passed his destination.

As such, Lall turned the car around and was told to stop a short distance away.

The suspect who was behind the driver’s seat reportedly held on to his neck while the other man exited the vehicle and forcibly removed Lall.

Lall was thrown on the ground and the men escaped with the car.

The incident occurred at about 11:45h.

An investigation is ongoing.
