President and Commander-in-Chief of the armed forces, Dr Irfaan Ali has granted approval for the promotion of five officers of the Guyana Defence Force (GDF) to Substantive Brigadier and Colonel.
The announcement was made by the Chief-of-Staff of the GDF Brigadier Godfrey Bess in a statement on Saturday.
Topping the list of promotions is Colonel Gary Beaton who was promoted to the rank of Substantive Brigadier while Colonels Ronald Hercules, Julius Skeete, Omar Khan and Kenlloyd Roberts were promoted to the rank of Substantive Colonel.
The President is responsible for promotions under section 16 of the Defence Act 15:01 of 1977.
The Chief-of-Staff, officers and ranks of the GDF extended congratulations to the newly promoted officers.
