Man granted bail for stealing $1M in fuel from employer

A former employee of Caricom Rice Mills Ltd. at Anna Regina, Essequibo Coast was granted bail for stealing a quantity of fuel valuing over $1M from his employer.

Moninder Persaud appeared at the Charity Magistrate’s Court before Magistrate Esther Sam on August 26 where he pleaded not guilty to the charge which alleged that while employed with the company as a front-end loader operator, he stole the fuel.

Persaud was employed to load sand at the Capoey Sand pit where he reportedly stole the diesel fuel and sold it to another loader owner called ‘Kem.’

He was placed on $150,000 bail and the case was adjourned to September 16 at 9:00h.
