Thieves cart off clothing, TV, bicycle from Councillor’s house

Police are on the hunt for the thieves who broke into the house of 72-year-old Phillip France in the wee hours of Saturday.

A statement from the Police noted that France and his wife secured their Hyde Park, East Bank Essequibo home at about 01:15h on Saturday and went to bed.

At about 2:05h, the wife went into the living room to check the time and discovered several louvre panes missing from a western window and a western access door on the lower flat was ajar.

As a result, she alerted the other members of the household who confirmed that one Samsung 48 inch Flatscreen Television valued at $300,000, a Mountain Bicycle valued at $18,000 and a quantity of clothing valued at $2,000 were missing.

All of the stolen items belong to Phillip France, who is a Councillor of the Neighbourhood Democratic Council.
