Lowenfield’s Personal Assistant arrested for ‘criminal conduct’ in March 02 polls

Duarte Hetsberger, the Personal Assistant to Chief Elections Officer Keith Lowenfield, has been arrested as the Police continue their probe into the events that followed the March 02 general and regional elections.

Hetseberger, 39, was arrested on Tuesday just after lunch.

The Police said he was arrested “in relation to his alleged criminal conduct” surrounding the elections.

Hetsberger is a Lieutenant in the Guyana Defence Force but was seconded to the Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM) a few years ago.

In 2016, he served as the Returning Officer for Georgetown for the Local Government Elections. He served in the same capacity for the 2018 Local Government elections.
