Vice President Bharrat Jagdeo, who has responsibility for Finance in the new PPP government, is likely to present the 2020 national budget on Wednesday.
The Parliament of Guyana, in the agenda it has circulated for Wednesday’s session of the National Assembly, noted that the Parliament’s Standing Orders Nos. 10(2) and 38(9)(a) are to be suspended “to enable the Minister with responsibility for Finance to complete uninterrupted the reading of the Budget Speech for 2020 at the Sitting of the National Assembly on Wednesday, 9th September 2020.”
Jagdeo will be presenting a budget once again after two decades. Jagdeo was Finance Minister up to August 1999 when he became President.
