USA-based Sachia Vickery suffered a second round defeat in the US Open, falling to Poland’s Iga Swiatek in a match that spilled over into a second day.
The match started on Thursday, but was suspended due to a heavy downpour with Vickery leading the contest.
Vickery, the world number 179, whose parents are Guyanese, took the first set on resumption on Friday 7-5, but her opponent stormed back to close out the game.
Swiatek, the world number 53, won the next two sets 6-3, 6-4 to move to round three.
