Police are investigating the death of 29-year-old Melinda Henry whose body was found floating in Bun Sugar Creek, North West District, Region One on Wednesday.

Police Headquarters in a statement said Henry and her 59-year-old husband, a mechanic, were in their camp imbibing alcohol on Tuesday night when the man left to speak with his father-in-law.

He told investigators and upon returning to the camp, his wife was nowhere to be found. He informed his father-in-law and they began to search for her.

The search was abandoned at about 23:00h on Tuesday when they did not locate Henry.

On Wednesday, the husband went to the Baramita Police Station to make a report when he was contacted by his father and brother-in-law informing him that his reputed wife is dead, however, he continued his journey and was accompanied by a Police rank back to the camp.

On his return, he saw his reputed wife’s body floating in the creek a short distance from the camp. The body was examined by the medic and the cop who observed bruises on her upper right thigh. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The body was then transferred to the Port Kaituma Hospital Mortuary awaiting a post mortem examination.

    No arrest was made.
