Security Guard chopped, robbed of cell phone
Police are investigating the armed robbery of a 38-year-old security guard of Henrietta Housing Scheme, Essequibo Coast who was chopped and robbed of his Samsung Galaxy cellphone worth $30,000.
Police in a statement noted that the robbery occurred at about 19:45h on Friday while Dhaneshwar Budhoo was on duty at Shawn Mini Mart in Anna Regina.
Budhoo was accosted by a masked man on a red motorcycle; it is alleged that the bandits came off the motorcycle with a knife in his hand and attacked the security guard while demanding his phone.
During the process, the victim was chopped on his right hand and was relieved of the cellphone. Police said Budhoo and the bandit then had a scuffle during which a bag owned by the bandit fell to the ground along with the knife, helmet along with an orange and black cellphone.
After the scuffle, the man jumped on his motorcycle and made good his escape with the victim’s cellphone, however, a piece of the number plate from the said motorcycle broke off and fell to the ground before he did so.
The victim was treated and discharged at the Suddie Hospital for his chop wound; Police investigations are ongoing.
