Taxi driver stabbed, robbed of car in Port Kaituma

Police are hunting for a man who on Friday stabbed a taxi driver, stole his car and then crashed it.

Troy Roberts was stabbed in the neck.

The incident occurred at Port Kaituma, North West District (NWD) Region One at around 17:30h.

The suspect has been identified as Samuel Allen called ‘Sammy.’

A statement from the Guyana Police Force disclosed that Roberts, 40, of Fitzburg, Port Kaituma, picked up Allen and a 26-year-old gold miner at Port Kaituma to go to an unknown location.

During their journey, Allen allegedly stabbed Roberts in the neck, robbed him of the vehicle and drove away.

However, Allen crashed the vehicle a short distance away; he then fled the scene and left his injured accomplice behind.

Roberts was taken to the Port Kaituma Hospital where he was treated and air-dashed to the Georgetown Public Hospital.

The 26-year-old accomplice is being treated for a fractured right arm.
