Tailor shot during home invasion
A 38-year-old tailor of Onderneeming Sand Pit, Essequibo Coast is nursing a gunshot wound to the right foot after two masked men with handguns invaded his home on Saturday last.
Narindra Persaud said at about 19:30h he was sitting in a hammock on his front verandah with his wife when she started screaming. He then saw the two men on opposite sides of the verandah. The Guyana Police Force reported that one of the men pointed the gun towards Persaud and ordered him to remain quite.
However, Persaud fearful for his life got up and attempted to run inside the house when he heard loud explosions and subsequently felt a burning sensation on his lower right foot. Persaud and his wife managed to secure themselves in the house and raised an alarm. Four other gunshots were heard as the men escaped on foot.
Perssaud was then rushed to the Suddie Public Hospital where he was treated and sent away. Investigations are ongoing.
