‘5 Minutes’ charged with murder of inmate

Twenty-two-year-old Shawn Jordan known as ‘5 minutes’ who is incarcerated at Lusignan Prison ‘B’ Holding Bay, East Coast Demerara was on Thursday charged with the murder of his fellow inmate, Jason Dundas.

The incident occurred on April 21, 2020, at the Lusignan Prison.

Jordan on Thursday appeared before Magistrate Marissa Mittelholzer via Skype where he was not required to plea to the charge and was remanded to prison until October 19.

Jordan reportedly stabbed Dundas during a “scuffle” among inmates in the Holding Bay.

Dundas suffered injuries to his left side face and body and rushed him to the infirmary.

He was subsequently taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Dundas was a shopkeeper at the Stabroek Market where he was allegedly busted with 43.772 kilograms of cannabis worth over $21M on August 27, 2019.

Police Headquarters said Dundas, of Ann’s Grove, East Coast Demerara, was remanded to prison on August 30, 2019 for possession of narcotics for the purpose of trafficking.
