Man arrested for sexual assault of woman

Police have arrested a 44-year-old man for the alleged sexual assault of a 37-year-old woman who reside on the West Coast of Demerara.

Police Headquarters said the woman, who is the suspect’s sister-in-law, overheard him saying on Friday that he wanted to perform oral sex on her, but she paid him no mind.

At about 23:00h, the woman said she was asleep when she was awakened by the suspect touching her inappropriately and immediately raised an alarm.

The suspect escaped from the house but was subsequently arrested and is in Police custody.
Investigations are ongoing.
