Dredge owner killed in accident

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of dredge owner Kerwin Schultz.

Police Headquarters in a statement said Schultz, 41, of Baramita, North West District was involved in an accident at the Polvotario Backdam on the Venezuelan border.

According to reports, at about 10:00h on Sunday, Schultz and two of his employees were on a tractor behind a skidder while descending a hill.

Subsequently the skidder encountered some problems and began rolling downwards toward the tractor. As a result, Schultz jumped from the tractor and ended up on the roadway when the skidder collided with the tractor and ran him over.

The body was transported to Baramita and subsequently to Georgetown where it was taken to Sandy’s Funeral Home and is awaiting a post mortem examination.
