A so far unidentified man of East Indian descent is in a critical condition in the High Dependency Unit of the Georgetown Public Hospital with severe head injuries after he was struck down in a hit and run accident on the Success East Coast Demerara Public Road on Tuesday night.
Police Headquarters in a statement noted that the man was walking in the corner of the road when he was struck down by a speeding burgundy coloured Toyota Primo car at around 20:15h.
“As a result of the collision, the pedestrian fell onto the road surface where he received injuries about his body. The injured pedestrian was later picked up by paramedics in [an] unconscious condition and taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation,” Police noted.
Investigations are ongoing.
