A 34-year-old Ann’s Grove, East Coast Demerara man was stabbed to death after a game of cards on Saturday last at Big Creek Backdam, North West District.
Dead is Kevin Baynes. He received three stabs to the left side rib, chin and head.
Police Headquarters reported that two suspects – a 25-year-old and 16-year-old – have been arrested.
According to reports Baynes was playing cards with the suspects when they got into an argument. Police said one of the suspects took out a knife and stabbed Baynes, took away his cellphone and refused to give it back.
Baynes subsequently left the area and was later approached by one of the suspects who again stabbed him to the face and body. The man was taken to the Port Kaituma Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Investigations are ongoing.
