Boy, 6, hospitalised after hit by car while trying to get across road
A six-year-old boy of Non Pareil, East Coast Demerara is now hospitalised after he was hit by a car as he was trying to cross the road.
Police said the accident was “serious” and occurred about 17:30h on Sunday.
Police said the motor car, driven by a resident of La Bonne Intention, East Coast Demerara, was proceeding east along the Non Pareil Access Road when driver observed an individual running from north to south and into the path of the motor car.
“As such the left side front of the motor car collided with the pedestrian who fell onto the roadway, receiving injuries,” Police stated.
The boy was picked up in a conscious condition by public spirited citizens and was taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation where he was admitted in a stable condition.
The driver, who fled the scene, was later arrested and is currently in police custody assisting with the investigations.
A breathalyzer test was conducted on him and Police found no alcohol.
