APNU+AFC candidate and former Guyana Defence Force captain Daniel Seeram has been elected by the Coalition to be the Chairman of the Regional Democratic Council for Region Four (Demerara/Mahaica.)

Seeram, who came to be known following his involvement in the recently completed protracted general and regional elections, specifically the recount exercise, replaces Genevieve Allen.

He was elected following a vote by Coalition members Monday morning.

The APNU+AFC won Region Four with 116,941 votes according to figures from the recount exercise.

Seeram was a candidate for the coalition in the 2020 elections.

The Vice-Chairman position also went to an APNU+AFC candidate, Samuel Sandy who is a Director at the Public Service Staff College.

They will now have to be sworn in by President Irfaan Ali.
