A fire of unknown origin completely destroyed the one-storey wooden house of Guy Scott, 41, a taxi driver of Onderneeming, West Bank Demerara.
The Guyana Police Force in a statement said the fire occurred at about 18:20h on Monday. The News Room understands that about 17:20h, Scott secured the house and left to go to the shop.
Upon his return, he saw flames emanating from the living room area; the fire quickly spread and engulfed the entire structure.
The Guyana Fire Service managed to extinguish the fire.
Investigations are ongoing.
