Two youths of Essequibo Coast are now patients at the Suddie Hospital after they came under fire from persons unknown Saturday night at Aurora Village, Essequibo Coast.

Twenty-year-old Reeaz Khan – a labourer of Pomona Housing Scheme – received a gunshot wound to his face while his friend, Cordell Grinds, 25, also a labourer of Adventure, received a wound to his left arm.

Police Headquarters in a statement noted that the victims went to a Hotel and Bar in Aurora Village at around 19:30h with motorcar PRR 1219 to pay a debt and while re-entering the car, they heard two gunshots.

Police said Grinds, who was the driver, quickly started the vehicle and drove off in attempts to get to safety, when they heard two more gunshots.

Grinds looked over at Khan who was in the passenger seat and saw that his friend had sustained what appeared to be a gunshot wound to his face while he had received one to the left arm.

Grinds immediately drove the vehicle to the Suddie Public Hospital.

Police recovered one .32 spent shell at the scene and found what appears to be two bullet holes in the car’s door.

Investigations are ongoing.
