Young Berbice cricketers rewarded for CSEC performance

The Berbice Cricket Board (BCB) this week handed over stipends of G$10,000 each to six players who did well at the recent CSEC with sponsorship from Satishwar Persaud of Adana Homes, based in Canada.

Those receiving the award under the Board’s first-ever Adana Tribute to Outstanding Students programme were student/athletes Jonathan Rampersaud, Mahendra Gopilall, Lucas Arthur, Ashmini Munisar, Abdul Ramsammy and Anthony Sukhra.

BCB President Hilbert Foster, speaking at the presentation ceremony, hailed the performance of the players and the demonstration that sport and academic can be intertwined.

He urged the students to always strive for excellence and to aim for more success. Foster also expressed thanks to former BCB President Anil Beharry and sponsor Persaud for their support of cricket and announced that the board would continue the award in the future.
