Bandits beat Parika man with metal pipes during robbery

A 43-year-old dispatcher of Butcher Shop Street, Parika, East Bank Essequibo was beaten and robbed of a 39 inch flat screen television just after midnight on Saturday.

Police Headquarters reported that Seolall Boodram was awakened by a noise coming from outside at around 00:30h, however upon checking he did not see anything unusual.

He then sent his cousin to purchase cigarettes and shortly after the three male suspects, armed with metal pipes, came running from the backyard where they attacked him while he was standing by his door.

Boodram was beaten with the metal pipes and ended up in a scuffle with the bandits.

During that time, one of the suspects went into the house and removed the television set; they subsequently escaped on foot.

Police investigations are ongoing.
