Retired Georgetown Hospital nurse dies of COVID-19

A retired nurse of the Georgetown Public Hospital Monday morning died of COVID-19. He is believed to be the first nurse to die of COVID-19 since the first case was confirmed in Guyana on March 11.

The nurse, Mark King, was 55-years-old. Doctors who spoke with the News Room say he was one of the best nurses to work with. He was last stationed in the Accident and Emergency Unit.

King, News Room understands, had underlying conditions and was admitted to the COVID Intensive Care Unit on September 25.

He died at around 05:00 hrs. King retired in July, 2020.
