President of the Guyana Boxing Association, Steve Ninvalle, has resigned with immediate from his post as Chairman of the Caribbean Steering Committee for Boxing.

In a resignation letter seen by News Room, Ninvalle informed the relevant authorities that he has also resigned with immediate effect from a five-man committee appointed to hold discussions with AIBA Presidential Candidates.

“Both resignations are for personal reasons, which will remain private at this time,” Ninvalle stated in the letter.

“I wish to thank the entire Caribbean for having the confidence in me during the one year and seven months life of the Steering Committee and for the support provided. I wish the two committees and members the best in future endeavours and assure that I can be called upon at any time, if support or advice is needed.”

“In leaving the Steering Committee, I find comfort in knowing that I am temporarily handing over to the competent and respected hands of Vice-Chairman Cecil Forde of Trinidad and Tobago. The other committee has a wealth of experience in Jose Rosario and company.

However, on Tuesday, the Committee was hit with another resignation, with Forde opting to do so with immediate effect as well.

Forde, in his letter, said: “I hereby inform you that I have resigned as Vice Chairman of the Caribbean Steering Committee and the five-man committee appointed to hold discussions with AIBA Presidential Candidates with immediate effect. This decision was taken after carefully examining all comments that was made on Sunday 5th October 2020 Zoom meeting with Presidents.

In leaving l feel confident that the achievements that we have made as a regional body will continue under the guidance of those selected.

I wish to thank the entire Caribbean Boxing Community for the love and total respect they have given me for the thirty plus years I have been involved in the sport of Boxing. I will remain committed to give my support and advice if needed.”
