Sixty-year-old Allan Sim on Thursday pleaded not guilty to the murder of 31-year-old Melissa Skeete, a former dispatcher of the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC), whose bloodied body was found with several stabs wounds in 2015.

Sim, also known as ‘Cayenne’ formerly of Paradise Housing Scheme, East Coast Demerara (ECD) appeared before Justice Navindra Singh at the Demerara High Court where he denied that he murdered Skeete on November 23, 2015.

Sim is represented by Attorney-at-law Adrian Thompson while the State is being represented by Prosecutor Tuanna Hardy.

It is alleged that on the day in question, Sim picked up Skeete from work in his car; she was allegedly stabbed and tossed from the car in the vicinity of Carmichael Street, Georgetown by Sim, who was her common-law partner, with whom she shared two of her four children.

The woman, who had been bleeding profusely, later succumbed to the injuries she sustained.

Sim was arrested and reportedly confessed to the crime under caution; his car was found days later with the passenger seat replaced.
