McGarrel removed as Permanent Secretary from Local Gov’t
Permanent Secretary (PS) Emil McGarrel appearing before the Public Accounts Committee (PAC)
Permanent Secretary Emil McGarrell was Friday afternoon dismissed from the Ministry of Local Government.
McGarrell served as Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Housing and Water under the PPP Government prior to 2015.
When the Coalition took office in May 2015, he was assigned as the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Communities, which was an amalgamation of the Ministry of Housing and the Ministry of Local Government.
When the PPP was returned to office in August this year, the Ministry of Communities reverted to being two Ministries and McGarrell was posted to the Ministry of Local Government.
A new Permanent Secretary will have to be named for the Ministry.
