Bandits Tuesday night stormed the Egou Chinese Supermarket on the Melanie Public Road, East Coast Demerara shooting a Chinese national to the leg and relieving the security guard on duty of his handgun.
Reports earlier suggest that one of the bandits was trapped inside the supermarket, but Police Headquarters later stated that the building was cleared. It is unclear at this time how many bandits invaded the supermarket.
Police ranks and army ranks are on the ground conducting investigations. The News Room will provide more details as they become available.
