Minister of Natural Resources Vickram Bharrat has agreed to become the Honorary Patron of the Berbice Cricket Board (BCB).
President of the Board, Hilbert Foster, and a team of executives made the offer to the Minister during a courtesy call on Tuesday and he readily agreed.
The delegation comprised Albert Smith, Robby Saywack, Angela Haniff, Dr.Cecil Beharry and Simon Naidu. The new Patron would be sworn in at a special function on November 14.
According to the BCB, Minister Bharrat agreed to the setting up of a Patron Fund. This fund would assist less fortunate clubs and cricketers in Berbice. The Minister would also assist the BCB to ensure the proposed semi-professional league becomes a reality in 2021.
The BCB handed over several publications to the Minister during the meeting.
