The People’s National Congress Reform (PNC/R) has been hit with a resignation by one of its Executive Members.

In the letter seen by the News Room and sent to PNC/R General Secretary, Amna Ally, Basil Blackman confirmed his resignation from the party with immediate effect. “I have made this decision with a heavy heart but for good of my conscience, it is for the best,” Blackman said.

He is known to be a personal friend of former President and Leader of the PNC/R David Granger.

In the resignation letter, Blackman talked about being disappointed in recent decisions taken by the party and said “everything is not what I expected.”

“Several key decisions do not sit well with me and as such I feel as though the executive no longer serves its mandated purpose since decisions are made without consultations,” he said.

In the letter he said he will step aside to make way for a younger candidate to function in his capacity.

“I will continue to serve in the best interest of the people of Guyana.”

Mr. Blackman……there needs to be some of the senior leadership speak out against the rigging attempt and begin to help this Country heal. We need the racial mix in representation but we need it to be honest and decent with integrity.
