Police have arrested a 21-year-old labourer who confessed to murdering his drinking buddy during an argument over what alcohol they were drinking.
Dead is Elon ‘Buckman’ Benjamin, 33, a labourer of Grant Enterprise, Lower Pomeroon River.
The Guyana Police Force reported that the incident occurred at about 23:00h on Saturday at a shop in Grant Enterprise.
Police said during the argument Benjamin went for a cutlass and began assaulting the suspect. The suspect in return took out a knife he had in his pant and stabbed Benjamin two times to the right rib. As a result Benjamin collapsed to the ground and the suspect escaped in some nearby bushes. Benjamin was taken to the Charity Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival,
Police said the suspect later turned himself in and confessed to the murder after police contacted him.
Sounds to me like self defense.
