Randy Williams was on Monday remanded to prison for the murder of his 21-year-old workmate whose body was found in a canal at Morashee Backdam, East Bank Essequibo last week.
Williams appeared before Magistrate Zamilla Ali Seepaul at the Leonora Magistrate’s Courts and was not required to plea to the capital offence which alleged that between October 10, 2020, and October 13,2020 he murdered Timol Harris.
He was remanded to prison until January 22, 2021.
According to reports Harris, of Waramuri, Moruca, Region 1, was last seen alive on October 10 by relatives. However, on October 13 farmers found his body floating in a canal, some two miles from where he works on a farm.
He was found with a chop wound to his upper neck.
The News Room understands that Williams and Harris worked on the same farm. It is alleged that Harris was receiving death threats from Williams.
The police subsequently arrested Williams and he reportedly confessed to the murder.
