The Preliminary Inquiry into the murder of gold miner Deon Stoll, who was gunned down in front of the El Dorado Trading establishment at DaSilva Street, Newtown, Kitty Georgetown last year, is stalled after two defendants in the matter tested positive for COVID-19 while incarcerated.

Shane ‘Demon’ Morgan called Dellon, a 33-year-old graphic artist of East La Penitence, Georgetown along with Roberto Sankar, a 28-year-old businessman of Pigeon Island, Essequibo, Wayne St. Hill, 38-year-old Graphic Artist of Dowding Street, Kitty and Steve Rollox, a 38-year-old taxi driver of Peters Hall, East Bank Demerara, are currently on remand for the murder of Stoll.

The News Room was able to confirm that two of the remanded prisoners tested positive for the novel coronavirus disease and are currently recovering.

Last month approximately 120 prisoners at the Lusignan Prison had tested positive for COVID-19.

Also charged in connection with Stoll’s murder is Odessa St. Hill, a 37-year-old mother of two and graphic artist of Delph Street, Campbellville along with Dr Alonzo Dos Santos, a 33-year-old medical doctor and a second lieutenant in the Guyana Defence Force (GDF), who lives at Prospect, E.B.D and Duncan Vanveild, a 36-year-old welder of ‘B’ Field Sophia and Keith Mc Kenzie, a taxi driver of East La Penitence.

They are all jointly charged with accessory after the fact.

Stoll of Essequibo Coast and Barima Avenue, Bel Air, Georgetown succumbed at the Georgetown Public Hospital shortly after engaging in a shootout with the bandits on October 14, 2019.

During the course of the robbery/murder, Morgan was shot and his cousin Odessa St. Hill took Dr Dos Santos to Vanveild’s home to treat Morgan for his bullet wound.

McKenzie was reportedly the driver of the motor car which was intercepted at a roadblock on the Cove and John Public Road, East Coast Demerara (ECD).

The court heard that Morgan was a passenger of the vehicle and was attempting to flee the jurisdiction on October 22, 2019.

Meanwhile, it is alleged that Rollox was the getaway driver, Morgan was the shooter and his cousin Wayne St. Hill was an accomplice.
