A grocery shop located at Anna Catherina, West Coast Demerara (WCD) was broken into and robbed sometime between 21:30h Wednesday and 04:00h Thursday. Police Headquarters reported that the shop is owned by Nafiza Smith, 57, a businesswoman of Hague, WCD.
A number of items valued at a total of $633, 000 were carted off. Police said the items include alcohol and non- alcoholic beverages, perfumes, cigarettes, electrical fans, hammocks and female purses.
According to the businesswoman, she secured her shop and left and was later contacted by the landlord about the robbery.
Police investigations are ongoing.
