Murder of Berbice teens: Regional investigators recommend police do more work

1

Regional investigators have recommended that the Guyana Police Force (GPF) do more in their investigations into the murder of Berbice teens Isaiah and Joel Henry and Haresh Singh.

In a brief comment Monday morning, President Irfaan Ali confirmed that the report from the regional investigators was received but said he has not yet seen it.

I have not seen a copy of it but I have been briefed on the content of it and what I’ve been told is that the RSS (Regional Security System) did some work (and) they recommended some additional work to be done

“But in total, they were satisfied with the work the local police have been doing,” the President said.

The RSS team was engaged by the President to come to Guyana in support of the police investigative capacity. They arrived here on September 28 and spent one week.

The mutilated bodies of Isaiah and Joel Henry were discovered in the backlands at Cotton Tree, West Coast Berbice (WCB) on September 6. The police had arrested approximately 27 persons but all were released due to insufficient evidence as investigators found that the boys were killed elsewhere and dumped at the location.

Haresh Singh was discovered dead in the back dam as the protests over the murders of the Henry boys raged.
