A 15-year-old student is in a serious condition at the News Amsterdam Hospital after he was stabbed to the left side chest during an argument with a 41-year-old man of New Amsterdam.
Police Headquarters reported that at about 18:00 hrs on Sunday the teen and his friend were standing on Pope Street in New Amsterdam when the suspect passed by and told the teen his mother has COVID-19.
As a result, the teen and the suspect were involved in a scuffle and the suspect pulled out an ice pick from his pants and stabbed the teen.
Police said the suspect was subsequently arrested and is in police custody. Investigations are ongoing.
