Bandit arrested with items stolen from Courts New Amsterdam Branch

Police have arrested a 38-year-old man who robbed Courts New Amsterdam, Berbice Branch between 18:00h Wednesday and 03:05h Thursday. Another suspect is also being sought.

Police said the unemployed man of Timmers Dam, Angoy’s Avenue, New Amsterdam and an accomplice reportedly broke into the store and stole a 43 inch TCL flat screen television and three smart phones – one LG, a Samsung and an Alcatel smartphone.

They gained access to the building by breaking the glass door on the bottom half of the main access door.
Swift response by the Police and a subsequent search of the area found the 38-year-old suspect a short distance away walking with the stolen items.

Police investigation is ongoing.
