Venezuelan injured in North West accident

A 39-year-old Venezuelan national is suffering a fractured leg after being involved in a motorcycle accident at Brooms Estate Public Road, North West District on Wednesday. Police said Zantoya Maroue reportedly walked into the path of the motorcycle which was being driven by a 43-year-old Kumaka District resident.

The accident occurred at about 09:30h.

According to reports the motorcycle was proceeding south along the eastern side of the road when Maroue started to cross the road. The driver said he tried to swerve from hitting Maroue but lost control and collided with him.

As a result of the collision, the driver and Maroue received injuries about their bodies.

They were taken to the Mabaruma Regional Hospital where the driver was treated and sent away while Maroue was admitted and subsequently medevac to Georgetown for further treatment.
