GGMC Company Secretary shot
Police are investigating the shooting of 44-year-old Jacque Foster, a Company Secretary attached to the Guyana Geology and Mines Commission (GGMC).
Police Headquarters in a statement noted that Foster left his Brickdam, Georgetown office and was proceeding to his Montrose, East Coast Demerara house when an “identifiable male” shot at him at around 19:00h.
According to the Police, when Foster turned north into Broad Street, Montrose, he noticed a male standing about 15 feet away from the corner who appeared to be urinating. As Foster drove past, the suspect turned around and pointed a handgun at him and discharged a round, hitting him on his right hand and in the process, shattering the right side front door glass.
As a result, the victim pulled out his licenced firearm and discharged two rounds at the suspect and drove home where he was subsequently escorted to the Woodlands Hospital by his wife.
A war head was extracted from his hand and he was discharged. Police have not made any arrest and the investigations are ongoing.
