A man of Amerindian descent, who is so far unidentified, is now dead while his drinking buddy is several stab wounds after an argument broke out while they were imbibing.
Police Headquarters in a statement noted that the incident occurred on Wednesday at about 03:00h at Balamani Backdam, Cuyuni River, allegedly by a Brazilian national, who resided in the area.
Investigations thus far, revealed that the victim, his friend Vivian Lacruz and the suspect were at a shop at Balamani Landing imbibing, when an argument erupted between them, during which, the suspect drew a knife and dealt the victim and Vivian multiple stabs about their bodies and ran away.
The victims were subsequently taken to the Bartica Hospital by public-spirited persons, where he was pronounced dead while Lacruz was treated for his injuries and referred to the Georgetown Pubic Hospital.
He remains a patient with wounds to his neck and hand. Police said efforts are being made to arrest the suspect.
