Essequibo teen stabbed to death by married man she rejected

A Richmond Housing Scheme, Essequibo Coast teenager was stabbed to death in her home on Wednesday at about 09:00h by a married man she had rejected. The teen has been identified as 16-year-old Sanesha Lall called Amesha.

The man consumed a poisonous substance and was found in the Better Hope, Essequibo Coast backdam. Police took him to the Suddie Hospital where he is undergoing treatment.

Lall had been living in Georgetown but returned to the Essequibo Coast after her father died. Relatives said the man had pursued the teen but she spurned him completely when she found out he was married.

The house where the incident occurred

Relatives told the News Room that Lall was stabbed by the 34-year-old man who came to the house. A younger sister said the man rushed in the house and attacked Lall after they told him he cannot enter the yard. The sister said Lall was stabbed multiple times by the man.

The teenager lived with her three siblings after both their parents died. Relatives explained that the man insisted on having a relationship with the young woman though she repeatedly rejected him.
