Father of four dies after crashing into parked truck

Popular sports personality 38-year-old Sherwin Murray called ‘Chest’ lost his life in a vehicular accident on Tuesday night.

The father of four who resided at Bengal Village, East Berbice Corentyne died after he lost control of his motorcycle CG612 and crashed into a parked truck on the Number 47 Village Public Road.

According to reports, at approximately 22:10 hrs, Murray was proceeding at a fast rate on the Public Road when he lost control of his motorcycle and collided with the front of the truck GNN 9131 that was parked on the same side of the road.

As a result of the collision, he sustained severe injuries to his head and other parts of his body. Murray was rushed to the Skeldon Hospital in an unconscious state and pronounced dead on arrival.

His brother Charles France, 35, was still in a state of disbelief when the News Room visited.

He recalled speaking to his brother minutes before retiring to bed; he received the tragic moments later.

“When I reached to the scene I just saw him lying on the bike. All now I still can’t believe,” France fought back tears as he recounted the scene.

Murray was described as a “caring, fun and easy-going” person who has a passion for sporting activities.
