Lusignan Prison Officers in custody following marijuana find
Two prison officers attached to the Lusignan Prison, on the East Coast of Demerara, are under close arrest after their colleagues found 894.5 grams of marijuana hidden in a cupboard under a sink.
Those in custody are 34-year-old Quincy Jemmott of Schoonard, on the West Bank of Demerara and 39-year-old Seon Albert of Ordinance, East Canje Berbice.
Police Headquarters in a statement noted that prison officials of the Georgetown Prison conducted a search of the Lusignan Prison Barracks on Wednesday between 10 pm and 10:15 pm when they found a black plastic bag in a cupboard under a sink.
The ranks opened the bag in the presence of the two prison officers and it contained two large transparent ziploc bag which had a quantity of leaves seeds and stems suspected to be cannabis.
