Police are investigating the death of a 65-year-old man whose body was found at Third Street, Mon Repos Pasture, East Coast Demerara (ECD) on Sunday night.
A statement from police headquarters noted that Astraf Ali of 173 Mon Repos Pasture was seen lying on the road’s surface at around 21:00hrs. He was found with injuries about his body and a reddish substance which appeared to be blood around him, police said.
The Police and the ambulance were summoned and paramedics checked but did not find a pulse.
Ali was then placed into the ambulance and escorted to Georgetown Public Hospital where he was seen and examined by a doctor on duty who pronounced him dead.
The body is presently at Lyken Funeral Home awaiting an autopsy.
