Albouystown man latest COVID-19 death

A 42-year-old Albouystown, Georgetown man has been recorded as Guyana’s latest COVID-19 fatality, taking the death toll to 140.

The News Room understands that Rixon Munroe died in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) on Monday.

Munroe, who was admitted to the GPHC on November 6, had several severe underlying medical conditions.

Munroe is the 14th person to die from the disease for the month thus far; the Ministry of Health is yet to officially announce the latest fatality.

Guyana continues to record a steady increase in COVID-19 cases, with the overall total cases now at  4, 894. As of November, 16, there are nine patients in the COVID-19 ICU, 68 patients are in institutional isolation and 887 are in home isolation.

The number of recoveries is at 3, 791.
