Drunk labourer drowns after jumping into Pomeroon River

A 24-year-old labourer of St Monica, Upper Pomeroon River drowned on Friday after he jumped into the river while intoxicated.

Dead is Danny Hendricks. Police Headquarters reported that about 18:00h, Hendricks returned to his landing after drinking with friends at a nearby shop.

His 13-year-old sister stated that he suddenly jumped into the river and subsequently disappeared. The sister informed another sibling and a search party was launched.

At about 09:00h on Saturday, the body was fished out of the river and pronounced dead on arrival at the Charity Hospital.

Police said no marks of violence were observed on the body. The body was further taken to the Suddie Public Hospital mortuary for a post mortem examination.
