Travel agent beaten, robbed at gunpoint

A 28-year-old travel agent of Prince William Street, Plaisance, East Coast Demerara was beaten and robbed at gunpoint of her shoulder bag valued $9000, a cellphone valued $45,000 and $31,000 cash.

Police Headquarters in a statement said Koretta Otho was standing in front of her yard at about 22:00h Saturday when she was confronted by two unidentified males.

One of the suspects, armed with a handgun, pointed it at her and demanded she handed over the items. Police said Otho refused and as a result, she was dealt several cuffs to the face by the other suspect.

The suspects then escaped on two bicycles. Police investigations are ongoing.
