Prime Minister Brigadier (ret’d) Mark Phillips was on Monday sworn in as acting President of the Co-operative Republic of Guyana.

He will be filling in for President Irfaan Ali who left for a state visit to neighbouring Suriname and will return on November 26.

According to a statement from the Office of the President, Dr. Ali will engage in discussions with Surinamese President Chandrikapersad Santokhi to build on the issues advanced during the visit of President Santokhi to Guyana last August.
