A 53-year-old businessman of Soesdyke Public Road, East Bank Demerara was shot dead during a home invasion early Monday. Dead is Terrence Dickie.

Police Headquarters in a statement said four identifiable men armed with hand guns broke into the man’s house at about 00:30h and made off with an undisclosed amount of cash after shooting him.

Police said Dickie lived in a two story house with his wife, daughter and 18-year-old nephew. The family was sleeping when the men entered the house. They woke up the nephew first by pointing a gun at his chest.

The suspects then lead the nephew towards Dickie’s bedroom and instructed him to let Dickie open the door.

Police said after Dickie realized what was happening he got into a scuffle with the men when one of them shot him to the chest area.

The suspects then demanded money from the victim’s wife and proceeded to ransack the rooms and escaped through the western door.

Dickie was then taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital by his wife and daughter but he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Investigations so far reveal that the suspects entered the house from a window on the lower flat of the house. Police investigations are ongoing.
